Here’s a plant stand that I put together last night. I had some scrap metal from a project I’m working on for my wedding (in three weeks!!!). I really like being able to use up all of the scrap materials I have left over from other projects. I wanted to built a stand for potted [...]

You’d think I’d hear gunshots if they’re half a block away…
I woke up this morning at 6am to go surfing with Dave. I walked out to the front of the house, and to my utter surprise, there were about 10 squad cars, and tons of investigators in khakis and workshirts, and yellow police tape blocking off the whole section of my street. I walked over [...]

Sustainable clothing
There’s a lot of talk these days about sustainable this and sustainable that. There are a handful of really excellent clothing companies doing their part to help the environment and make quality outerwear (see Patagonia). Well, I just recently discovered the most practical and sustainable clothing item you could ever purchase; the jumpsuit. You might [...]

Radness this (past) weekend
Shelter Surf Shop hosted an awesome event on Saturday night. It was really happening. Great film, great soundtrack, great food, beer, mojitos, great people, great music; good time all around – especially in a city that doesn’t have a breaking wave!!! Make sure you take some time to stop in there say hi to the [...]

(old) New Couch
Younger brother bought us a couch! How rad is that! Evan and I went to King Richards antique mall last week on lunch break and I showed him this awesome two-piece sectional. Well that little rascal borrowed Heathers’ keys and bought the couch and put it in our place before I got home from work [...]

TV Stand
So I decided to replace the super hip Russian designed “m’ilkcrates” TV stand with a little construction of my own. Using scrap wood from the bookshelves project, I was able to make a nice little stand with some sliding door action for storage. Have a looksee below. Simple. Functional. Sturdy. Easy to construct. I can [...]

Just in case you haven’t heard
I read the story on Surfline earlier this week. A Taiwanese fishing boat was abandoned at the famous Padang Padang surf break in Bali. Full story and awesome photos here. It is a definite environmental tragedy as tons of diesel fuel and bilge sludge are flowing into the break and the surrounding waters.

Living Room
So, by way of a very generous wedding gift, we decided to put some money towards a TV for the living room. We don’t actually plan on watching TV, but we love watching movies. Anyways, we picked up the little diddy below and christened it by watching The Goonies. In case you’re wondering where we [...]

Dining Room
We are now turning the corner…from makeshift/jimmy-rigged furniture and lights to actual real furniture that people can sit on. Heather and I picked up those pendant lights and the barstools at the Long Beach Flea Market last Sunday. We love the lights! They actually match materials with the backs of our dining chairs. We really [...]

Iphone and how we spend our money…
Just read an interesting post about the disparity between rich and poor and what the rich decide to spend their money on, and how they go about spending that money. The writer was basically talking about how folks camped out to get a new Iphone and how they were celebrated all over the news vs. [...]

Bike Rack design
Bike Racks are important. As more folks are riding bicycles these days, places to lock up are becoming increasingly more important. There have been several nights I’ve rode over to a bar in Long Beach and had to lock up to a street pole, or somebody’s fence, or some gas or water pipes. I think [...]

Radness this weekend
The super rad Long Beach Surf Shop, Shelter, is having an event on Saturday night. I’ll be there along with a slew of fellow friends and futurists. They’ll be screening the film The Innermost Limits of Pure Fun, Details here. And if you haven’t been over to Shelter yet, Saturday night will be a great [...]

(Re)Making Stuff
Remember the bike rack I made out of vintage bikes? Well, apparently someone got really excited about one of the pieces I put together and decided to break it off and take it home. Honestly, if I was a complete asshole, and was in to ripping off public art, I’m pretty sure I would have [...]

Sketch book thoughts from Spring ’07 (2)
One day, probably while sitting in a class that I found boring at the particular time, I decided to write out some phrases for the acronym M.A.S.H. Did you ever play that game as a youngster? Anyways, I’ll post the ones that I still find semi-clever and semi-amusing. Enjoy. Mothers Against Shit Heads. Mormon Aqueduct [...]

Sketch book thoughts from spring ’07
Beanies keep your head warm. Coffins keep the dead warm. A beanie that you could fit a dead person in would be called an eternal sleeping bag; because dead people can’t wake up. They sleep forever. For now let’s just wear beanies on our head and not spend so much time worrying about the dead.

Color
I love color. No surprise that I was attracted to this new nesting kitchen bowl system thingy. I saw this on a couple of blogs today but I like Core 77′s article the best. here.

I sit at a desk in Santa Fe Springs and my friends travel the world
My dear friends Vern and Melinda Moen, Nicole Pietrini and Danielle Cedillo (and I think a few others I know) are currently in Malawi, Africa with Water Wells For Africa. Vern is working on a film/documentary for them and the girls are helping to build a water well. I’m so stoked for them! What an [...]

In a galaxy far far away…
In January of 2007 I was heading back to the States after a 3 week trip through Italy with my Art History department at school. Due to some weather delays we got stuck in Munich on our layover, and had to sit in the airport for hours upon hours. Eventually the airline gave us vouchers [...]
