Here’s a plant stand that I put together last night. I had some scrap metal from a project I’m working on for my wedding (in three weeks!!!). I really like being able to use up all of the scrap materials I have left over from other projects. I wanted to built a stand for potted succulents – my inspiration was from the potted plant grid at the Camp outside of native foods.
At my local metal shop they sell recycled and scrap metal at 50 cents a pound. So I picked out a big heavy brick of metal (40 pounds) to use as a base. I then cut up some scrap 1 inch square tubing to frame the pots.
Cut + Weld = 2 hours.
Metal=$25
6 inch Pots, Ikea = $3.99 each
Now I just have to buy some succulents and potting soil. So grand total will be between $50-$60
I think the metal is going to look really nice as it begins to rust more – and of course when I get some plants in there!
I can make you one – Depending on size on how many plant holders you want – $80 +
