Ode to Hammocks

Liking hammocks right now. Hammocks and outdoor umbrellas. I think I like the idea of material, like canvas, being stretched over a some kind of frame work.

Here are two Hammocks that I saw at ICFF over the weekend.

Hammocks are a peculiar piece of furniture. The hammock is perhaps one of the most inherently romantic pieces of furniture. Leisure incarnated. Hammocks do not seem to be as popular as they once were. Perhaps it’s the general lack of leisure in our culture. Perhaps it’s because we don’t read as much. Perhaps it’s just the design – freestanding hammocks take up quite a lot of space. Surely, the best kind of hammock is one that can be set up between two existing posts or trees.

I’ve been noticing some hammocks popping up on some blogs lately. I wonder if we’ll be seeing a resurgence in this piece of furniture.
