Recent Acquisitions

Special 5th Sunday Long Beach Flea Market yielded several greatd finds: Heather and I have had our eyes out for an ironwood whale sculpture and we finally found one. On a daring move, I purchased this cart and 8 1950′s sleeping bags.  I got an insane deal, so good that I can’t even tell you, [...]

Treasure Hunting (chairs)

I’ve been seeing a lot of rad sitting devices lately.  I’m not sure if my awareness has heightened recently, or if I just so happen to be running in to  rad seating objects lately, but heregoes: Quite possibly the best folding chair I’ve ever seen

Recent Acquisition

Heather and I picked up this little mid century beauty over the weekend.  The cushions are kinda funky, but we could always change those out at any time.  Other than that, the wood is in great shape, and it’s a super comfy lounger:

I want this!

I want one!  This is what the maintenance/room service personnel road around in at the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs! So cool! Found HERE, by accident…

Good Looking Object (Gas Tanks)

I was picking up some metal today for a new display I’m working on, and I spotted these little dudes: They’re old aluminum gas cylinders that have been cut in half for disposal.  Imagine the possibilities! You could put a piece of glass on top of one of them and use it as an end [...]

Jacques Cousteau

Major Treasure Find! 20 Volume set of the The Ocean World of Jacques Cousteau. All for the price of $20.  I didn’t buy them, but it was a good find!  What a deal! And this captain:

Recent Acquisitions

Just got these little beauties in the mail yesterday.  I think it marks my first actual Ebay purchase.  A group of vintage broadhead arrows, 13 to be exact.  I think the seller actually put new feathers (fletches) on the arrows as well. Look how mean looking those arrowheads are! Also, last week, I picked up [...]

Treasure Hunting (skates)

Probably the best pair of skates I have ever seen at an antique store. Impecable condition, and my size!  Soon to be an acquisition??? Perhaps.  Original wood wheels.  Good for doing mean power slides.  And the toe stopper is unlike any I’ve ever seen.

New Toys (Bow and Arrows, Surfboard, Skateboard, etc…)

This weekend was full of some excellent consumption of goods!  However, I’m glad to say, that my consumer desires were executed with a heavy dose of personal integrity.  Translation: All goods purchased were second hand, used, vintage, or a trade. For example: Bow and Quiver of Arrows – For protecting my land and lady. Purchased [...]

Bench seats

These could be cool inside the van.  Found at, duh, King Richards Fold ‘em up when not in use.  They would work nicely on a small porch or balcony too…

New Books

I found these book yesterday at King Richards antique mall.  I liked the art and idea behind both of these books. They were both written in 1940′s and they give an interesting depiction who God is and what the Church is.  Plus, the drawings are rad! What would you say if someone asked you to [...]

Treasure Hunting

Saw this rad chair today.  I’ve never seen one exactly like this before.  It is really comfortable too.  I think that if a chair has the angles, contours, flex, and rigidity in all the right places than it could be made of the harshest materials possible and still be comfortable.  It’s also interesting to note [...]

Treasure Hunting (place mats)

Kinda diggin’ these super kitschy place mats.  They might work as wall art too.  Saw them today at a thrift store in Whittier

Treasure Hunting

Went out today to my normal stomping ground; King Richard’s Antique Mall. Here’s what caught my eye today…

Morning Treasure Hunt

Saw a garage sale sign this morning on my way into work, so I had to stop and check it out. Saw an old, old, old Hobie surfboard shaped by Terry Martin, they wanted $50 for it, and I should have gone for it, but it was going to need some major patching, and I’m [...]

Treasure Hunting (a new category)

I’ve decided to rename my excursions/explorations, which usually occur on my lunch breaks during weekdays.  I’ll also post other little treasures that I find in my day to day activities. Here are some recent treasures I’ve spotted in my recent wanderings… I think the sled above would look rad mounted to the wall. Beverage cart, [...]

Lunching

Been a while since I took a lunch tour.  Well, it’s been a while since I did a post about a lunch tour. Saw some cool new things at King Richards during my afternoon constitutional.  I’ve probably been there about 15 times now, and it never gets old.  I see new things every time, and [...]

Lunch Tour (lamps and ships)

Went by King Richards today at lunch.  Saw some nifty lamps.  Also, got the eye out for some model sailboats for the apartment.  I think I’d like to find some wall mounted sail boats, but the pedestal ones are nice too.

Lunch (and a new purchase)

Went out today on my lunch break and visited King Richards in Whittier.  It’s my (new) favorite place!  I think I go there about once a week.  I saw a black water globe last Friday and went back today to purchase it.  They are pretty rare objects to find, and I love the way they [...]

Lunching

One of my new favorite places to stop by when I’m out and about at lunch time is the A to Z Mart. It’s a random and weird name for such a cool place. They have a constantly rotating inventory of great used furniture, antiques, and some rad mid-century pieces. As far as I can [...]

Lunching

Spotted these little portly fellas on todays lunch outing. Actually, I ate lunch in the office today, but at about 3 o’clock the walls were caving in on me and I needed to go on a drive; get a little fresh air, listen to some NPR, see if anyone left any cool scrap wood behind [...]

Lunching

King Richards Antique Mall – Whittier, CA (it’s very, very, very large) Along with my attraction for colored glass, I really like old glass 5 gallon barrels. I just like old glass objects. The funny thing is, glass is one of those materials that won’t tarnish or rust or change color…… right? or does it? [...]
